The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies participated in the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum, organized by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce in Iraq, in coordination with the Ministry of Construction and Housing. The first specialized symposium, titled “The Future of Smart Cities in Iraq,” was held at the headquarters of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce on December 4, 2024.
During the symposium, Prof. Dr. Suha Muhammad Hadi, Dean of the Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies, highlighted the need to strive to build smart cities in Iraq, joining the ranks of regional and developed countries around the world, and harnessing Iraq’s potential in the fields of technology and information technology to enrich the experience of these cities in the future.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi Smart Cities Forum addressed two global aspects: how to establish smart cities from the ground up and how to transform existing cities into smart cities. The seminar was attended by general managers from the Ministries of Investment and Planning, as well as several private sector companies concerned with the future of smart cities in Iraq. This seminar will serve as a key preparatory step for the launch of the first Iraqi Smart Cities Forum, scheduled for February 2025.
