The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies held seminars for doctoral students in the research phase studying at the Institute for the academic year 2020-2021. These seminars were conducted by specialized committees comprising qualified professors. These scientific committees were chaired by the Dean of the Institute of Informatics, Dr. (Assistant Professor Dr. Suha Muhammad Hadi), and supervised by the Scientific Assistant, Dr. (Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Hassan Tarish).
The Dean of the Institute, Dr. (Assistant Professor Dr. Suha Muhammad Hadi), explained that the preparation of a peer-reviewed seminar for a doctoral thesis by the student is a very important step toward obtaining this advanced academic degree.
She noted that during the seminar, the researcher presents his research plan and expected results to the professors, supervisors, attendees, and members of the discussion committee. This enables the discussion committee or supervisors to evaluate the student’s scientific study, discuss its results with the student who prepared it, and then approve the award of a doctorate if the research presented during the discussion phase is successful.
She points out that a good student is one who excels at presenting their thesis seminar in a distinctive and concise manner, while simultaneously covering all the topics and points addressed in their study, avoiding boring and exaggerated verbosity or repetition, which weakens the presentation and constitutes its weakness.
The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies is committed to applying all rigorous academic standards to its students in order to advance the educational reality in the country and keep pace with global developments.
