The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies Discusses a Master’s Thesis on Cyber Threat Detection

The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies at the University of Information and Communication Technology held a master’s thesis defense for student Israa Saad Mohammed on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

The thesis, titled “Detecting Multi-Cyber Threats in Digital Images Using Reinforcement Learning,” was in the field of Computer Science. It presents a model that utilizes deep reinforcement learning (DRL) based on reward and punishment to develop more intelligent and autonomous cyber threat detection systems. The system proposes two models: one for visual data (images) and the other for textual data (records and packets), enabling it to continuously learn and adapt to evolving and modern attack patterns.

Israa Saad Mohammed was awarded a Master’s degree with distinction in Computer Science.
