The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies, represented by the Dean of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Suha Muhammad Hadi, participated in the Scientific Committee Meeting of the First Iraq Smart Cities Forum, held on December 29, 2024. The meeting is in preparation for the Iraq Smart Cities Forum, scheduled for February 17, 2025.
The forum is being held by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the International Chamber of Commerce in Iraq, in cooperation with the National Investment Commission, the New Cities Implementation Authority of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, and the National Security Advisory, with the participation of the Arab Cities Organization/Arab Smart Cities Forum.
The forum addresses a number of key topics, including the importance of digital transformation in urban development, available investment opportunities in this field, and global best practices for establishing efficient and smart cities.
The meeting was attended by representatives of relevant authorities, Iraqi universities, the National Investment Commission, and the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate. The Iraqi Smart Cities Forum represents a first step toward building new, sustainable, green cities with a smart, urban character, in an environment aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
