The Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies discussed a Higher Diploma student’s project. The discussion session was held on Monday, September 1, 2025.
The student, Shaimaa Hammadi Issa, presented her project entitled:
“AI-Driven Cybersecurity: Real-Time Threat Detection and Prevention.” This research proposes a comparative evaluation of nine machine learning mechanisms within a balanced dataset. The research concludes that tree-based clustering methods, particularly XGBoOst, are highly effective in detecting intrusions on the CIC-IDS2017 dataset when combined with balanced training data and robust preprocessing.
The student, Shaimaa Hammadi Issa, was awarded her Higher Diploma with distinction.
