A Predictive Model for Reducing Water Consumption in Iraqi Agriculture: The Focus of a Master’s Thesis at the Institute of Informatics

A master’s thesis by student Huda Muwaffaq Kadhim was discussed at the Institute of Informatics for Graduate Studies at the University of Information Technology and Communications. The discussion session was held on Monday, November 3, 2025.

The thesis, in the field of Computer Science, was titled:

“Predicting the Water Footprint Using Data Mining Techniques.” This thesis addresses the issue of water scarcity in Iraq and its significant impact on agriculture, which uses more than 90% of the country’s freshwater resources. Its purpose is to create a predictive model capable of estimating the water consumption of major crops and determining whether they should be grown locally or imported.

The student, Huda Muwaffaq Kadhim, was awarded a Master’s degree with distinction in Computer Science.
